Canadian Coalition for Global Health Research
The Canadian Coalition for Global Health Research (CCGHR), is a non-profit organization with the mission of “promoting better and more equitable health worldwide through the production and use of knowledge.” With members from across Canada and many parts of the world, the CCGHR is a Canada-based global network. Created in 2001 out of a realization that Canada could do more to help reduce health disparities in low and middle-income countries (LMICs), the CCGHR focuses on the use of health research to develop capacity at individual, institutional, and systems levels.
Through this work, the CCGHR focuses efforts on building south-north research partnerships, connecting people, and helping to support the growth of our next generation of leaders in global health.Working with the CCGHR since 2011, I’ve been able to engage in a variety of initiatives that are helping to further encourage collaboration and communication amongst members and within the broader global health community. This work has included the development of a graduate-level internship with McMaster University’s Institute on Globalization and the Human Condition, developing an online communications strategy, and most recently, building an online database to encourage collaboration and coordination amongst Canadian global health researchers.
Currently in the midst of envisioning a new online presence for the Coalition, I’m excited to continue working to bridge existing gaps between researchers, organizations, and the broader public. To learn more about the CCGHR, please visit their website: www.ccghr.ca.
