OUR PROGRAMS
Our programs are developed from Zambian identified priorities and needs. The primary objective of our programs is to provide a sustainable foundation for individuals in areas such as emergency care, maternal and child heath, palliative care and others, so that local health care professionals can continue with teachings and continue to deliver high quality care.
PALLIATIVE CARE
In Zambia, hospice and palliative care is either non-existent or in its infancy, causing insufficient or no access to medications to control severe or moderate pain for patients in need.
EMERGENCY CARE
Knowledge and skills in the area of emergency care is crucial in Zambia to ensure the overall health and well-being of its citizens.
MENTAL HEALTH
There are many barriers to providing appropriate mental health care, such as poor infrastructure. We need public education to decrease stigma and mental health specific education for staff.
MATERNAL CHILD HEALTH
OkaZHI has been working with Lewanika General Hospital to strengthen staff and institutional capacity to improve care and ensure best practices and standards are modeled.
MEDICAL SURGICAL
The Medical-Surgical program has delivered a range of health care training for Zambian doctors, nurses, clinical officers and medical licentiates living in rural and urban areas of Western Province.
